Stranding technology

Expertise & performance capability

Stranding / cording is a manufacturing process in which a number of stranding elements are combined through torsion around a common axis, with simultaneous longitudinal movement, to form a new, multifilamentous geometry. Stranding compensates for the relative movements and flexural stresses within the strand profile, resulting in stable and yet flexible, twistable continuous linkages. The degree of flexibility is determined by the structure of the cable, the material, the direction of lay (S / Z) and length of lay.

Traditional areas of application are cable and line technology and the actual production of cables.

Stranding elements may be any of the following:

  • Wires
  • Yarns, plastic filaments
  • Individual, bare or insulated conducting wires
  • Braids
  • Fibre-optic cables ...

ASW-KARG stranding systems have become an established brand name in the fabrication of copper wires and fine conductors. Our systems are used by customers all over the world and constantly developed further. A broad range of additional equipment complements our range of products for users.
